SEASON FOUR RECAP
|
Cupid's
Chokehold
|
|
As the fourth season began, the answers to two surprise
marriage proposals were revealed. Beau turned down Elena's
proposal to elope, confessing to her his feelings for
Kerri. He knew Elena's proposal had been a last ditch
attempt to save their relationship, but he couldn't
deny that the two of them had been drifting apart --
and that his feelings for Kerri were growing more serious
by the day.
Giselle was initially reluctant to accept
Vincent's offer as well. He was still married to Martine!
After giving the idea some thought, Giselle came to
see the potential benefits -- both personal and
professional -- in accepting Vincent's proposal. She
agreed to remarry her ex-husband, and the two returned
home to St. Laurent elated, despite their business trip
to Vail ending in little success.
After months of on-again, off-again behavior,
Elisabeth and Remy decided to give their relationship
a second shot, but agreed to take things slower this
time. Josie got a job working at the club with Remy.
She hoped it would help the two of them grow closer,
but when she learned he was back with Elisabeth yet
again, she gave up her pursuit of him once and for all.
Josie was nearly assaulted by a drunk
while walking home from the club one night. She was
rescued in the nick of time by Roderick Wallace, a dumb
jock who represented everything she hated. Roddy had
a history with Josie's friend Eden. Josie was harsh
on him, knowing that Roddy was a liar, a druggie and
a serial cheater. Still, after he went out of his way
to treat her with kindness, she saw a new side of him.

Dangerous
Games

After
their harrowing ordeal with Hal Roman, Charlie and Erin
returned home with their new baby, a daughter they named
Summer. They were happy to be safe and healthy, but
felt guilty for their feelings, knowing Hal had kidnapped
Priscilla Domingo and was still on the run.
When Kerrigan saw Charlie and Erin together
with their child, she was more determined than ever
to move on with her life and put her past with Charlie
behind her. She felt bad for coming between Beau and
Elena and was careful not to rush into anything too
quickly, despite her attraction to him.
Elena lashed out at both of them, but
she had more important things to worry about. She found
a surveillance tape from the night of the Masquerade
Ball in Giselle's office, and was determined to find
out what was on it before Giselle returned from her
business trip. On the tape, Elena was surprised to see
that it was Monique Champlain who had pushed Nelson
Fletcher to his death. Monique maintained her innocence
and Elena wanted to believe her, but with the evidence
stacked against her, Monique could find herself in serious
trouble for the crime, especially if Giselle chose to
use the tape against her. Elena kept the surveillance
tape for safekeeping, while she decided what to do about
Monique.
While Sonya and Jasper continued to search
for the whereabouts of Hal and Priscilla, Charlie and
Erin tried to settle back into a normal life, but the
lingering threat of Hal reappearing in their lives was
unsettling. After an aerobics class one afternoon, a
stranger began to chase Erin and Elisabeth across the
parking lot. Erin was sure it was one of Hal's associates,
but it turned out to simply be an agent interested in
working with Elisabeth.
Elisabeth attempted to get her modeling
career back on track, but her agent, Pierce Shepard,
wasn't exactly the most reputable of talent scouts.
He tried to convince Elisabeth to star in a commercial
for a herpes medication, but Elisabeth was too mortified
to commit to the job. Pierce attempted to apologize,
instead offering her a new gig: a model-search reality
show. Elisabeth found the opportunity too exciting to
pass up. Remy was convinced Pierce was a slimeball and
warned her against it, but Elisabeth went against Remy's
wishes and accepted the offer.

The
Pathfinders Program
|
|
After returning from their business trip, Vincent immediately
set about ending things with Martine -- so he could
move on with Giselle. Martine was furious, but Vincent
blackmailed her into agreeing to a divorce by threatening
to reveal her involvement with Pete Sorenson and Derek
Wolf. Martine was forced to sadly accept the dissolution
of her marriage, and wondered what would happen to her
and Josie. Martine tried to mend her relationship with
Josie, but her daughter was angry that her life was
being thrown into chaos once more due to her mother's
actions.
At Kerrigan's urging, Martine and Josie
enlisted in a wilderness retreat called the Pathfinders
program. Josie was against the idea, but Martine wouldn't
take no for an answer. Things went better than either
of them anticipated, and after several therapy sessions
with the program's counselor, Tyson LeBrock, the two
made some inroads in repairing their relationship.
Josie
ran into a familiar face at Pathfinders. It was Roddy
Wallace, the arrogant classmate of hers who had rescued
her from an attempted rape. Roddy and Josie grew closer
while working together at their camp, bonding over their
dysfunctional family lives. During a nature hike, Roddy
and Josie teamed up, while Martine was forced to pair
up with Tyson. After Roddy came to Josie's aid once
more -- this time saving her from a menacing snake (and
a sprained ankle) -- Josie realized he wasn't the same
jerk he used to be. Josie gave into her physical attraction
to him, and when the two finished their hike, Martine
suspected something was up.
Late that night, Josie couldn't sleep.
While wandering around the camp in the night, she witnessed
her mother getting intimate with Tyson LeBrock and was
enraged, deciding her mother hadn't changed one bit
since they began the Pathfinders program. Josie ran
away from camp and from the program entirely in the
middle of the night. When Martine discovered Josie was
missing, she left as well, sad to be leaving what might
be developing with Tyson, but intent on trying to repair
the damage she'd caused with Josie.

Love's
Eternal Flame
|
|
Upon Giselle's return, the animosity between her and
Elena carried on, with Monique Champlain caught somewhere
in the middle. Elena was trying to save Monique from
being blackmailed by Giselle, but Elena soon realized
Monique was far more troubled than she originally thought
when she witnessed her employee doing what appeared
to be cocaine. Elena followed Monique after work, seeking
answers. Tracking down Monique led Elena to a place
she never would have expected -- a strip club just out
of town.
Meanwhile, with Martine out of the picture,
Vincent and Giselle announced their engagement to the
family. The family was stunned by the news, but In spite
of their disapproval and the chaos surrounding the Highwind,
they forged ahead with their wedding plans. Giselle
even forced her pawn-by-blackmail, Monique, into being
her Maid of Honor, since she had no other "girlfriends"
to do the honor.
Elena confronted Monique about all her
secrets -- her drug use, her second "job",
and how she had pushed Nelson down the stairs at the
Masquerade Ball. Monique admitted she had a problem,
but insisted that she wasn't a stripper (she only bartended
at the club), but more importantly, insisted that killing
Nelson Fletcher had been accidental. Nelson was a frequent
visitor to the strip club who had harrassed her on numerous
occasions. When he got grabby at the Masquerade, Monique
had tried to push him away, only to have him lose his
sense of bearings during the blackout and fall to his
death. Elena believed Monique, and agreed that they
needed to destroy the surveillance videotape of that
night to set Monique free from Giselle once and for
all.
Giselle gleefully tormented Monique with
her wedding demands, leading to a rapid increase in
Monique's drug usage. Monique didn't take the punishment
lightly, however. When Giselle made it Monique's duty
to plan Vincent's bachelor party, Monique set about
throwing him a crazy party at the strip club. While
at the party, Monique bonded with Remy Ormand, who had
just broken up with Elisabeth yet again. The two of
them had a drug-fueled hookup in the club, but their
wild night ended early when Beau and Remy were forced
to carry a drunken Vincent out of the club.
Monique anonymously sent some shocking
photos of Vincent's bachelor party to Giselle, but Giselle
refused to get angry over her husband's partying, knowing
that was exactly what Monique and Elena must want from
her. The wedding would go forward...
On the day of the wedding, Elena and
Monique destroyed the surveillance tape -- Giselle's
evidence against Monique -- by throwing it into a lake.
Monique agreed to quit the Highwind (and her drug habit)
after the wedding.
At the chapel that day, Elena and Monique
stealthily locked Giselle in the Highwind vault right
before her wedding, hoping to stop the inevitable. A
nervous Monique turned to her drug habit yet again,
doing lines of cocaine in the bathroom right before
the ceremony was set to begin. As the wedding was set
to begin, Giselle came racing back from the vault. She'd
used a security override to escape and had foiled Elena's
plot.
The wedding march began. Just as they
were pronounced man and wife, Vincent Guthrie's marriage
to Giselle was derailed by Monique Champlain. The drugged-up
Maid of Honor collapsed and took a candelabra down with
her, igniting the altar, and more specifically, the
bride, into a ball of flames...

Unfinished
Business
|
|
Charlie and his wife, Erin, tried to get their lives
back on track with their new daughter, but before they
even had time to settle in, Erin was kidnapped once
again. Charlie knew at once that it must be the work
of Hal Roman, coming to finish what he had started with
Erin and Summer. Charlie rallied all the support he
could find and was annoyed that his parents seemed more
concerned with their own wedding plans than in helping
him locate his missing fiancée.
With Sonya, Jasper, and Abe on his side,
however, Charlie tried to track down Erin and Hal. They
found a clue at the airport -- a surveillance tape showing
Erin and her kidnapper boarding a flight to Rio de Janeiro.
Charlie immediately booked a flight there to continue
his search for her.
Erin
awoke to find herself trapped in Hal's new research
facility. She had been drugged, and continued to be
sedated by Hal's goons while she searched for answers.
Erin found that she was being held captive alongside
Priscilla Domingo. Priscilla told Erin everything she
knew about Hal's research. Hal came to find Erin and
told her the truth about himself and his motivation
for going after her. He had a cancerous brain tumor
and had abducted both Summer and Priscilla's child to
try to "grow" a cure that would be carried
in the childrens' genetic information.
Erin was furious that he'd put her through
such a harrowing ordeal for his own selfish reasons,
but Hal tried to convince her that she was the
selfish one, saying what a medical breakthrough his
research would become. But first, his assistant, Stella,
was about to attempt a dangerous surgical procedure
to remove the rest of his tumor...
While searching for Erin and Priscilla,
Sonya and Abe grew closer. The two of them were interrupted
from their fling, however, by the news that Charlie
and Jasper had a lead in their search for Erin. The
four of them raced to Hal's villa, desperate to free
their friends from the crazed doctor.
Little did they know, Hal was in no condition
to carry out a defense against them. He was currently
in surgery, his assistant Stella doing her best to perform
risky brain surgery on him. The rescue party crashed
through the gates and broke into the clinic. Erin and
Priscilla were freed from their captivity, but Erin
wanted to be sure Hal wouldn't escape again.
The group barged into the operating room,
where Hal was defenseless and unconscious on the operating
table. Erin shot Hal on the table, making sure he wouldn't
be able to harm her again. Stella was horrified as she
watched Hal slip away and die on the table. She pulled
out her own gun and fired wildly at Erin for retribution.
Unfortunately, her gunfire connected with Sonya Cortes...
